Overview
GitHub Store is a fully static aggregator and download directory for open-source software. The site has no accounts, no server-side database, and requires no registration or login. We do not ask you for personally identifying information such as your name, phone number, or government ID.
The site uses cookies and browser local storage to remember your language, theme, and preferences, and relies on third-party services (advertising, analytics, image delivery) to stay running. Those third parties may collect device and browsing data when you visit — see the sections below.
What we collect
The site itself does not collect or store information that identifies you personally. The following data is generated when you visit:
- Server and CDN logs: IP address, browser User-Agent, requested page URL, and timestamp. These are recorded by our hosting and CDN provider (Cloudflare) as a standard industry practice, for security and troubleshooting.
- Browser local storage: your favorited software list, chosen download mirror, and light/dark theme preference. These stay in your own browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
- A language preference cookie (named git-lang) that records your chosen interface language so a later visit opens directly in that language.
- Data generated by third-party services: advertising (Google AdSense) and analytics (Baidu Tongji) collect data via cookies or similar technologies. See Third-party advertising and Other third-party services below.
Third-party advertising
This site displays ads through Google AdSense to cover hosting and bandwidth costs. As a third-party advertising vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads when you visit this site.
Google uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites (this technology was historically called the DoubleClick DART cookie). Ad selection is performed by Google's advertising systems; we cannot access or control the contents of those cookies.
You can opt out of personalized advertising using the links below. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing history.
Other third-party services
Beyond advertising, this site uses the following third-party services, which receive your IP address and request information when you visit:
- Baidu Tongji (hm.baidu.com): page view and referrer statistics, used to judge which content is most useful;
- jsDelivr and its mirrors (cdn.jsdelivr.net / jsdelivr.b-cdn.net): delivery of this site's software screenshots and author avatars;
- Cloudflare: this site's hosting and CDN provider, handling DNS, caching, and security.
How these services handle data is governed by their own policies, which we do not control. When you click a download or GitHub link, you leave this site and the destination site's policies apply.
How we use it and how long we keep it
The data described above is used only for the following purposes:
- Displaying and optimizing advertising, which keeps this site free to use;
- Measuring traffic to judge content value and decide what to improve;
- Security (detecting abnormal traffic, blocking attacks) and troubleshooting.
We do not retain this data ourselves; retention periods for third-party services are set by their respective privacy policies. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
External links
This site aggregates open-source projects hosted on GitHub, and many links point to GitHub, project homepages, or third-party image hosts. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for their content or data practices. Once you leave this site, the destination site's terms apply.
Children's privacy
This site is aimed at the general public and contains open-source software information. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please email us at the address below and we will address it promptly.
Your rights
Under regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, for the European Economic Area and the UK) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: to know what data relating to you we hold;
- Deletion: to request deletion of data relating to you;
- Objection: to refuse the use of your data for personalized advertising (you can do this directly via Google Ads Settings above);
- Non-discrimination: exercising these rights will not degrade the service you receive.
Because this site has no accounts and does not store personally identifying information itself, in most cases we hold no data that can be traced to you. Advertising-related data is controlled by Google, so please use Google's privacy tools to exercise those rights.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect business changes or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page; for significant changes we will also post a notice on the site. Continuing to use this site means you accept the updated policy.
