README
Project Overview
mpv.config is a ready-to-use mpv configuration pack supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux. It ships modernz and uosc, two modern borderless themes, plus a consistent and feature-rich context menu across all platforms. Configuration is separate from the player, so you can always update mpv without losing your setup.
Gives native mpv a beautiful interface and a pile of useful enhancements in one step.
Key Features
- Two themes: modernz and uosc, both modern and borderless
- Context menu: a consistent cross-platform menu with default, macos, teal, and other colors
- Thumbnail preview: hover the progress bar to preview the matching frame
- Subtitles and danmaku: online Chinese subtitle search and web-wide danmaku loading
- Picture enhancement: on-demand shaders like Anime4K, FSRCNNX, CuNNy, and ArtCNN
- Frame interpolation: raises video smoothness when enabled
- Panoramic video: supports 360-degree VR playback
- Visual controls: equalizer, channel switching, auto HDR, decode switching, and live recoloring
Target Audience
- Media enthusiasts chasing high picture quality and a good UI
- Users who want one configuration across platforms
- Viewers who like danmaku and online subtitles
- mpv and mpv.net users
Quick Start
- Install the mpv player first; on Windows choose an official build or mpv.net, and on macOS or Linux use the mpv website
- Download the theme you want (modernz or uosc) from Releases and unzip it
- Create a folder named
portable_configin the player root (next tompv.exe) - Copy all extracted files into that folder and restart the player
Core Advantages
- Upgrade-safe: configuration sits apart from the player, so updates never disturb it
- Consistent platform support: the same menu and controls on Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Feature-complete: upscaling, interpolation, danmaku, VR, and equalizer in one pack
- Lightweight: a few copy-paste steps and you are done, no complex tuning
