README

Project Overview

Baka is a cross-platform anime client built with Flutter, covering Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, and Android TV. It searches, resolves, and plays anime through rule-driven video sources, and adds danmaku, subtitles, offline caching, casting, and a local media library. The app does not host, upload, or distribute any video content; content is provided by third-party sites. The Windows build also offers real-time Anime4K upscaling.

One app that aggregates anime sources and danmaku into a single viewing experience

Key Features

  • Rule-driven sources: search, resolve, and switch anime sources through built-in and custom rules
  • Multi-protocol playback: a media_kit player with episode selection, speed control, subtitles, and resume
  • Danmaku: load, send, and block danmaku, and use local danmaku files
  • Offline caching: manage MP4 and HLS cache and download tasks, plus streaming while downloading via magnet and torrent
  • Casting and library: DLNA casting, local folders, and a WebDAV media library
  • History sync: keep playback history locally and sync it across devices after login
  • Multi-platform UI: tailored interfaces for Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, and Android TV
  • Image enhancement: real-time Anime4K upscaling on Windows

Target Audience

  • Anime fans who watch on multiple devices
  • Users who want to watch anime on a TV
  • Viewers who enjoy danmaku interaction
  • Advanced users who prefer open-source clients
  • Android TV and TV box users

Quick Start

Using a release package

  1. Open the Releases page and download the package for your system and CPU architecture
  2. iOS builds are unsigned and must be signed before installation
  3. On first launch, confirm the community API address in the server settings
  4. Subscribe to source rules in the rule center, or import your own rules
  5. Search for an anime, pick an episode and line, and start playing
  6. On the player page you can enable danmaku, speed control, subtitles, or casting

Running from source

  1. Install FVM and run fvm install in the project directory to pin the Flutter version
  2. Run fvm flutter pub get to fetch dependencies
  3. Run fvm flutter run to launch, or fvm flutter build apk --release to package
git clone https://github.com/AniBakaBaka/AniBaka.git
cd AniBaka
fvm flutter pub get
fvm flutter run

Core Advantages

  • All in one: search, details, playback, danmaku, and caching live in a single app
  • Broad coverage: one experience spans desktop, mobile, and TV
  • Extensible rules: sources are maintained as rules and can be updated independently
  • HD without ads: high-definition playback with real-time enhancement
  • Auditable: the code is open and its requests and data fields can be reviewed

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, Android TV
Architecture x86_64, arm64
Runtime Release packages need no extra dependencies; source builds need Flutter 3.44.9 and Dart 3.8 or newer

Notes

  • The app neither stores nor distributes video content, which comes from third-party sites
  • Third-party site interfaces can change, so source rules may break at any time
  • The app reports an anonymous install identifier to dau.anibaka.com on startup
  • iOS packages are unsigned and must be signed before installation
  • Make sure the content you access complies with local laws and regulations
