README

Project Overview

ContextMenuManager is a pure Windows context-menu manager for cleaning up and customizing cluttered right-click menus for files, folders, New, and more. It can enable or disable entries, rename them, change icons, or jump straight to the related registry and file locations. It hides entries using system-provided keys where possible, which is safer than simply deleting them.

Returns the Windows right-click menu to a clean, handy state.

Key Features

  • Enable and disable: manage menus for files, folders, New, Send To, Open With, custom formats, IE, and WinX
  • Modify entries: rename menu items and change their icons
  • Locate and jump: navigate quickly to the registry or file location of an entry
  • Permanent delete: fully remove unwanted menu items
  • Custom additions: add new entries and custom commands for the above scenarios
  • Multilingual: supports localized display and lets you author language dictionaries
  • HiDPI support: best display scaling at 150%

Target Audience

  • Windows users who want to tidy a cluttered context menu
  • Advanced users who need custom menu commands
  • Troubleshooters locating an entry's registry keys
  • Users on high-resolution screens

Quick Start

  1. Download the latest zip or the exe directly from Releases
  2. Pick the .NET 3.5 or .NET 4.0 build for your system and run it
  3. Choose a scenario category on the left and find the target entry
  4. Use enable, disable, modify, or delete to adjust the menu

Core Advantages

  • Safer approach: hides entries using system keys rather than blunt deletion
  • Broad coverage: handles files, folders, New, Send To, and other common scenarios
  • Easy locating: one click jumps to the registry or file location for troubleshooting
  • Free and open: completely free, and you can compile and customize it

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10
Architecture 32-bit and 64-bit
Runtime .NET Framework 3.5 or 4.0 (per chosen build)
Display HiDPI-ready, best at 150% scaling

Notes

  • The app reads and writes many registry keys and files and may be flagged by Windows Defender; whitelist it if needed
  • Avoid running several context-menu managers at once to prevent interference
  • Entries disabled by other tools using deletion may not appear in this program
  • It does not clean uninstall leftovers; beginners should stick to enable and disable
