README

Project Overview

Trime (Tongwen Input Method) is an Android front end for the RIME input framework, calling librime via JNI from Java/Kotlin, designed to let Pinyin, Wubi and dialect code tables coexist on one platform.

This repository is a fork customized for the BiBi Keyboard ecosystem; its package name carries a bibi suffix so it can coexist with the official Trime. Schemas, themes and dictionaries follow the open Rime formats.

Item Value
Platform Android
Engine librime (JNI)
Schema format Open Rime schemas (yaml)
License GPL-3.0

All of Rime's power on Android, with dialects, shape-based codes and custom schemas intact.

Key Features

  • Full RIME port: librime via JNI keeps schemas and dictionaries identical to desktop
  • Phonetic and shape-based: Pinyin, Zhuyin plus Wubi and Liangbi shape codes on one platform
  • Dialect friendly: dialect code tables like Wu and Cantonese mount directly
  • Free schema import: open Rime format means community schemas work as-is
  • S2T conversion: built-in OpenCC switches traditional output on demand
  • Theme customization: keyboard colors and layout deeply configurable
  • BiBi edition: independent package name coexists with the official build

Target Audience

  • Wubi and Liangbi shape-based typists
  • Users of dialect code tables (Wu, Cantonese, Tairu and more)
  • Tinkerers who love custom Rime schemas
  • Traditional Chinese input users

Quick Start

  1. Download the com.osfans.trime.bibi arm64 APK from Releases and install
  2. Enable the input method in system settings and switch to it
  3. Place Rime schema files in the user directory and enable them from the schema menu
  4. Switch OpenCC modes in settings for traditional output
  5. The community rimerc repository offers ready-made config examples

Core Advantages

  • Powerful engine: the RIME framework is mature with precise candidates
  • Schema ecosystem reuse: desktop Rime schemas work without changes
  • Dialect support: equal standing for minority and dialect input
  • Fully open source: GPL-3.0 licensed and auditable

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Android
Architecture arm64-v8a
Build tools Android SDK/NDK, JDK 17, Python 3 (OpenCC dictionaries)

Notes

  • Custom fork: a BiBi Keyboard edition with a different package name from official Trime, both can coexist
  • Bring your own schemas: input schemas and dictionaries are prepared by the user or fetched from the community
  • Heavy build deps: building needs the NDK and JDK 17; Windows also needs Developer Mode for symlinks
