README
Project Overview
QuickShot is a screenshot tool for macOS and Windows that focuses on speed and simplicity. Hover over a window and it lights up with an outline; click to capture just that window, or drag to select any area. After capturing, you can annotate, beautify, stitch, and pin, and all processing stays on your computer.
Hover, click, annotate, and everything stays local.
Key Features
- Hover-to-capture: hovering highlights a window, clicking captures it, and dragging selects any area
- Ten annotation tools: rectangle, ellipse, arrow, line, pen, highlighter, text, numbered steps, and redaction
- One-click beautify: gradient backgrounds, window frames, rounded corners, shadows, and social aspect ratios, settable as the default style
- Stitching: join several captures vertically, horizontally, or in a grid, with adjustable spacing and order
- Pinning: floats a capture above everything with adjustable opacity and click-through
- Zoom and crop: scroll to zoom, drag to pan, and crop with undo support
- On-device text extraction: uses system OCR to read text from a capture without uploading it
- Smart Redact: covers user names, host names, emails, IPs, and keys in one step
Target Audience
- Office workers who take screenshots often
- Authors writing tutorials and documentation
- Developers who annotate screenshots
- Privacy-conscious users who do not want uploads

- Text extraction uses system OCR, and the Windows build relies on installed OCR language packs
- Smart Redact is only an aid, so check the result before sharing
- By default the app sends one anonymous usage report per launch, which can be turned off in settings
