README

Project Overview

William Player is a video player spanning phones, TVs, and PCs with a clean, simple interface. It supports cloud playback from Tianyi Cloud, Quark Drive, and WebDAV, scrapes film and TV metadata into a poster wall, and bundles optional IPTV sources. Playback and data all happen locally without a separate backend service.

A single player lets you watch straight from your cloud drive.

Key Features

  • Cloud playback: direct playback from Tianyi Cloud, Quark Drive, and WebDAV
  • Metadata scraping: automatically fetches film metadata and builds a poster wall
  • IPTV live: built-in sources with line selection and automatic grouping
  • Gesture controls: double-tap to play or pause, swipe to adjust volume and brightness, pinch to zoom, and drag to seek
  • Subtitles and audio tracks: embedded subtitle playback and audio track switching
  • Multi-device sync: account data and playback records sync across devices
  • Skip intro and outro: automatically or manually skip episode intros and outros
  • Continuous playback: automatically switches to the next or previous episode for series
  • Automatic updates: built-in update detection
  • Three platforms: the same features cover phones, TVs, and Windows

Target Audience

  • Users who binge series from cloud drives
  • Android TV and TV box users
  • Users who need local high-definition playback
  • Movie fans who like poster-wall management

Quick Start

  1. Go to Releases and pick the package for your device architecture: app-mobile.apk for phones, app-tv.apk for TVs
  2. Install and open the app
  3. Add a Tianyi Cloud, Quark Drive, or WebDAV account in settings
  4. Open the media library and wait for scraping to finish, then browse the poster wall
  5. Tap a movie to start playback and use gestures to adjust volume and progress
  6. For live TV, open the IPTV page and choose a line

Core Advantages

  • Local-first: playback and data happen locally with no self-hosted backend
  • Cloud-direct: treat cloud drive videos as local sources, skipping the download step
  • Consistent across devices: phones, TVs, and PCs share one interface and feature set
  • Lightweight: the package is about 22 MB, so even older devices run it smoothly
