README
Project Overview
Audio Bridge is a Bluetooth audio receiver for Windows that lives in the system tray. It lets your PC connect to Bluetooth audio sources such as phones and tablets and play their audio through the PC speakers. It only handles the control layer, while the actual audio capture and decoding are done by Windows' built-in Bluetooth audio services.
Makes your phone's sound come out of the PC speakers.
Key Features
- Dual protocol: works with both classic A2DP and LE Audio devices, labeled with a protocol prefix in the device list
- Smart auto-reconnect: an exponential backoff with jitter schedule that reduces conflicts when several devices reconnect at once
- Audio performance boost: raises audio thread scheduling priority while a connection is active to reduce audio stutter
- Multi-device memory: remembers several paired devices for quick switching
- Start on boot: optionally launches with Windows, preferring the registry and falling back to a Startup shortcut
- System notifications: toasts when a device connects or disconnects, with disconnect toasts throttled to avoid spam
- Tray integration: runs as a tray icon, and a left click opens the native device picker
- Multi-language UI: English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese following the system UI language
Target Audience
- Users who want phone audio played through PC speakers
- Users who need to receive tablet or phone sound on a PC
- Users with Bluetooth headsets or speakers who want automatic reconnection after a drop
Quick Start
- Download and run the installer and follow the wizard
- Optionally enable "Create a desktop icon" and "Start on Boot" during setup
- First pair your phone or tablet with the PC in Windows Settings; this app does not pair devices
- Left-click the tray icon and pick a device from the list to connect
- Audio then plays through the PC's default output device; use Disconnect in the picker to stop
- Right-click the tray icon to open Bluetooth settings, toggle auto-reconnect and start-on-boot, or view statistics
Core Advantages
- Light and robust: no protocol stack of its own, only documented system APIs, so it stays compatible with future Windows versions
- Worry-free connections: auto-reconnect after a drop, with little interference even with several devices
- Simple install: one package holds all three architectures and installs the matching one
- Restrained notifications: connection changes are reported, but disconnect toasts are throttled instead of repeated
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later |
| LE Audio | Needs Windows 11 22H2 or later, a Bluetooth 5.2 adapter and a device supporting the protocol |
| Architecture | x86, x64, ARM64; a single package matches your system |
| Hardware | A Bluetooth adapter that supports A2DP Sink |
Notes
- Devices must be paired in Windows first; this app does not perform pairing
- Showing as a system process in the volume mixer is a platform behaviour rather than a defect
- Some connections opened by the system cannot be closed in the app and must be disconnected from the phone side
- Auto-reconnect stops and notifies you after too many failures; reconnect manually or pair again then
