README
Project Overview
WebSpeak is a self-hosted web client and voice gateway for TeamSpeak 3 and TeamSpeak 6. Once deployed, users can join voice channels right from a browser without installing a desktop client, while the operator keeps control of the target servers, access policy, and data. The browser handles interaction and audio, and WebSpeak provides the gateway connection to TeamSpeak.
Bring TeamSpeak into the browser while keeping servers and permissions in your own hands.
Key Features
- Browser voice: join TeamSpeak channels from a web page with no desktop client
- Two generations: supports both TeamSpeak 3 and TeamSpeak 6
- Admin console: configure the TeamSpeak target and access method
- Self-hosted deployment: the operator keeps control of data and access policy
- Multilingual docs: documentation in Chinese, English, German, Russian, and Japanese
- Skin development: a skin development specification with a companion guide
- Containerized deployment: an official Docker image is provided
Target Audience
- Administrators self-hosting TeamSpeak servers
- Users who would rather not install a desktop client
- Teams that need browser-based voice access
- Organizations wanting a self-hosted voice gateway
Quick Start
- Prepare a server and deploy WebSpeak, optionally using the official Docker image
- Open the admin console and enter the TeamSpeak server address and access policy
- Share the web address with your members
- Members open the page in a browser to join a channel; the browser handles audio
- To customize the look, build a skin following the skin development specification
Core Advantages
- No client install: members only need a browser to enter voice channels
- Data autonomy: the operator controls the target servers, access policy, and data
- Covers old and new: one solution spans both TeamSpeak 3 and 6
- Deeply customizable: the skin development specification lets you reshape the interface
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Deployment | A server supporting Docker or Node.js |
| Runtime | Node.js 22.5 or later |
| Target service | A TeamSpeak 3 or TeamSpeak 6 server |
| Client | A modern browser with microphone and WebRTC support |
Notes
- You must deploy and maintain the server yourself; this is not a ready-to-use online service
- If a modified version is offered to users over a network, its source must be provided under AGPL-3.0
- Browser audio quality depends on the browser and network environment
