Project Overview

newBV is a third-party Bilibili Android TV client rebuilt from the open-source BV project, written with Jetpack Compose and supporting Android 5.0 and later. Rather than a straight copy, it keeps the core viewing experience while reworking the architecture and adding many frequently requested features.

Key Features

• Live streaming: a live home page with recommendations, categories, following and rankings, plus manual multi-line switching and real-time danmaku
• Comments: previews on detail pages, a dedicated comment dialog and in-player comments, with nested replies and likes
• Cache management: an adjustable cache threshold with automatic cleanup, manual cleanup and log size viewing
• Touch support: dual remote and touch modes, with fast-forward, brightness and volume gestures in the player
• Themes: dark, light and follow-the-system, with a new brand palette
• Watch progress: history, watch-later and uploader page cards show a progress bar
• Player enhancements: like, coin and favorite shortcuts, concurrent viewer count and segmented danmaku loading
• Diagnostics and crashes: diagnostic logs for key actions and local crash logs

Quick Start

1. Download the APK from Releases and install it on an Android 5.0+ TV or TV box
2. Open the app and browse recommendations and categories with the remote
3. Visit the live home page for recommended streams, categories and your following list
4. Read comments on a detail page, or open the in-player comment panel
5. Adjust the cache threshold, theme and touch or remote mode in settings

• This client is not intended for use in mainland China; use the official TV app there if needed
• Live stream lines and quality depend on the platform and your network, and lines can be switched manually
• Automatic cache cleanup removes older cache past the threshold, so bookmark important content early
• The third-party client is unrelated to Bilibili and is subject to the platform's terms of service
