README

Project Overview

ShiWuJi is a home inventory management app built with Flutter that solves the common frustration of remembering you own something but being unable to find it after rummaging everywhere. It lets you record the storage location, category, purchase date, and warranty status of every item, and supports AI photo recognition, batch import of e-commerce orders, and WebDAV cloud backup, keeping your home inventory well organized. Its core design philosophy is to manage the most items with the fewest operations: a Room to Cabinet to Compartment to Item spatial structure mirrors real-life storage, so choosing a location feels as natural as putting something in a cabinet, while photo recognition and order import reduce the cost of creating records to almost zero. The app supports Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Web, and is open source under the MIT license.

Key Features

  • AI photo recognition: take a photo and AI automatically fills in name, brand, and category; supports more than 18 AI providers.
  • Item management: record name, price, category, storage location, purchase date, warranty days, photos, brand, and notes.
  • Spatial hierarchy: Room to Cabinet to Compartment to Item, a four-level structure for precise location.
  • Warranty tracking: automatically calculates warranty expiry and shows expiring, expired, and in-warranty statistics on the home page.
  • Category management: 12 built-in categories (digital, appliances, skincare, kitchen, clothing, books, storage, toys, sports, stationery, keys, tools) with custom extensions.
  • Order import: import e-commerce platform orders in one click to batch-generate item records.
  • Statistics cards: the home page shows total items, total asset value, weekly additions, and monthly growth.
  • Item filtering: filter by category or warranty status, and sort by time, price, or expiry date.
  • Space management: manage rooms, cabinets, and compartments in three levels with real-time occupancy.
  • WebDAV backup: connect to any WebDAV service (such as Nutstore or Nextcloud) to back up and restore the database.
  • Update check: fetch the latest version information from GitHub Releases and prompt for updates in-app.
  • Local notifications and data encryption: local warranty-expiry reminders and database encryption based on PBKDF2 and AES.

Target Audience

  • Users who often cannot find household items and want to organize storage systematically.
  • Households with many items that need to track warranties and purchase information.
  • Users who want quick AI photo entry instead of filling out forms manually.
  • Privacy-conscious users who prefer self-hosted WebDAV cloud backup.
  • Users who need it on both phone and computer.

Quick Start

  1. Download and install ShiWuJi for your platform (Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, or Web).
  2. On first launch, follow the guide to explore the interface; the home page shows total items, total asset value, and warranty statistics.
  3. Go to Space Management and first create rooms, cabinets, and compartments to build your home spatial structure.
  4. When adding an item, fill in name, price, category, and location, or use AI photo recognition to autofill, or import e-commerce orders to generate records in bulk.
  5. The home page automatically reminds you about items whose warranty is about to expire or has expired.
  6. In the personal center, connect a WebDAV service (such as Nutstore or Nextcloud) to back up the database to the cloud.
  7. Developers can run from source: clone the repository, then run flutter pub get, dart run build_runner build, and flutter run.

Core Advantages

  • Space as structure: a three-level spatial hierarchy directly mirrors real storage, making entry natural and intuitive.
  • AI lowers the barrier: photo recognition and order import make creating records nearly free, solving the reluctance to log items.
  • Automation for peace of mind: automatic warranty calculation, expiry reminders, and encrypted backups.
  • Multi-platform coverage: one codebase covers Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Web.
  • Controllable privacy: the database is encrypted locally and backups go to your chosen WebDAV service.
  • Open and free: MIT-licensed, with reviewable code and self-build options.

System Requirements

  • OS: Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, Web.
  • Architecture: cross-platform Flutter builds; Android can use split-per-abi packaging.
  • Additional dependencies: the Flutter SDK is required to build from source; AI recognition and cloud backup require your own services.

Notes

  • AI photo recognition requires you to configure a supported AI provider and API key.
  • WebDAV backup requires a WebDAV-capable cloud drive or server of your own.
  • After modifying models, database/tables, or providers when building from source, rerun build_runner to regenerate code.
