README

Project Overview

Put Notion's today tasks and daily journal into an always-on-desktop floating panel — without opening a browser or switching to the Notion client.

WidgetToDo is a native macOS desktop app built with SwiftUI + AppKit. It turns Notion databases into an always-on-desktop floating panel, letting you view today's todos, check off tasks, and edit daily journal entries without leaving your current workflow — all changes sync back to Notion in real time.

It is not a Notion replacement but a lightweight entry point:

  • Not a standalone task manager — data always lives in your Notion; WidgetToDo only displays and edits.
  • Not a browser extension — it is an independent macOS app with its own window, menu bar icon, and system notifications.
  • Not a full-featured Notion client — it focuses on just three things: today's todos + daily journal + Pomodoro timer, deliberately keeping it lightweight.

Key Features

  • Floating panel: Draggable, snapping, collapsible into a mini capsule.
  • Today's todos: Check off, create, and edit Notion tasks.
  • New task: Title/status/estimated duration with validation prompts in Chinese.
  • Daily journal: Edit the day's journal and manually sync to Notion.
  • Pomodoro: Focus timer linked to task status.
  • Status bar icon: Left-click to summon the floating window, right-click for menu.
  • Multi-language: Simplified Chinese / English / French.
  • Local cache: SQLite for offline viewing.
  • Secure token: Stored in Keychain, never in source or logs.

Target Audience

  • Users who manage daily tasks with Notion
  • Users who want their todo list pinned on the desktop
  • macOS users
