README

Project Overview

HanCast is an open-source cross-platform casting tool built on Macast, using Rust, Tauri 2.0, Vue 3, and Python. It casts local files, network links, and Bilibili videos to LAN smart devices, and can turn your computer into a DLNA receiver for casting requests from phone apps. Powered by MPV underneath, it supports nearly every media format.

One app connecting all your screens.

Key Features

  • File casting: drag videos, audio, or images into the window and cast to a device in one click
  • Link casting: paste an HTTP or HTTPS direct link to cast and play
  • Bilibili casting: paste a Bilibili link to resolve the stream and cast automatically
  • Receive casting: act as a DLNA receiver for casting requests from phone apps
  • Cast control: preview cover and title live, adjust volume and progress, and stop in one click
  • Multi-device control: cast to several devices at once while keeping each controller state
  • Safety confirmation: unknown devices trigger a confirmation popup with auto-reject on timeout
  • Trust management: allow once or always allow so trusted devices stop asking

Target Audience

  • Users who want to cast computer content to a TV
  • People who need to cast a phone to a computer
  • Home users with DLNA devices

Quick Start

  1. Get and install the app from Releases or the Microsoft Store
  2. Make sure the computer and target device are on the same LAN
  3. Drag in a file or paste a link and pick a device from the list
  4. Click a device card to open the control panel and adjust volume and progress

Core Advantages

  • Broad format support: MPV underneath handles nearly every media format
  • Works both ways: both sending and receiving casts
  • Safe and controllable: confirmation and trust management prevent mis-casting
