README

Project Overview

VoCoType-linux is an open-source voice input tool for Linux and macOS. Core speech recognition runs locally without a GPU; it can optionally connect to a local, LAN, or cloud OpenAI-compatible API for long-sentence polishing and context-aware voice editing based on the input field.

  • Linux: Native support for Fcitx 5 and IBus
  • macOS: Native InputMethodKit Palette Input Method, coexisting with the current keyboard input source
  • All three platform frontends share the C++ Core, FunASR worker, terminology, ITN, AI polishing, and constrained voice editing protocol

Key Features

  • Local FunASR final recognition, optional real-time preview, hotwords, terminology protection, and ITN
  • F9 normal dictation, Shift+F9 AI polishing, and Ctrl+F9 voice editing
  • Parallel preparation of final ASR, punctuation model, and current hotword graph when the voice shortcut is pressed, significantly reducing post-cold-start key-release latency
  • Fcitx 5 normal F9 changed to async, cancellable task
  • AI connection test in settings center is optional diagnostics
  • Release assets include macOS arm64 DMG, Debian/RPM/Arch Universal, IBus-only, and Fcitx5-only packages with unified checksums
