Project Overview
Husk runs Android apps and games directly on your iPhone: add an APK, tap it, and it opens full-screen. It works in two ways: the translation layer runs a game's own 64-bit Android code straight on the iPhone's processor for second-level launches, while Emulation boots a complete LineageOS system under QEMU.
Around the game, Husk stands in for Android's C library, Java calls, OpenGL ES (via ANGLE), Vulkan (via MoltenVK), sound and touch, so game code is never emulated and stays fast.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Platform | iOS 16.0+ (iPhone) |
| Modes | Translation layer (native) or QEMU-emulated LineageOS |
| Install | SideStore, AltStore or TrollStore sideloading |
| License | GPL-2.0 |
Put an APK on your iPhone and play, the translation layer opens in seconds and full Android covers the rest.
Key Features
- Import and play: accepts APK plus XAPK, APKM and APKS split bundles, launching full-screen
- Translation layer: runs Unity, UE4, cocos2d-x, Godot 3/4, SDL2/SDL3 and Rockstar engine games natively
- Full system emulation: QEMU boots LineageOS for apps the translation layer cannot run yet
- Play services visible: games see Google Play services as installed and signed out, so startup checks pass
- Save backups: export a game's saves to a zip and restore on the same or another iPhone
- Crash reports: after a crash the next launch explains what happened, with a shareable report
- JIT guidance: several ways to obtain JIT including built-in StikJIT, with step-by-step walkthroughs
Target Audience
- Players who want Android-exclusive games on iPhone
- Users who occasionally need an Android app on iOS
- Advanced users who enjoy sideloading and emulation
- Geeks curious about LineageOS on iOS hardware
Quick Start
- Prepare an iPhone on iOS 16.0 or later
- Add the Husk source in SideStore or AltStore, or sideload the IPA from Releases manually
- Enable JIT following the guided steps in Settings
- Import a 64-bit APK and tap to launch
- For apps the translation layer cannot run, start the emulated full Android instead
Core Advantages
- Fast without emulation: the translation layer never translates instructions, games start instantly near-native
- Two routes: compatibility gaps fall back to QEMU emulation for wider coverage
- Easy install: one IPA works with SideStore, AltStore and TrollStore alike
- Portable saves: zip backups keep game progress across devices
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | iOS 16.0 or later |
| APK format | must contain arm64-v8a 64-bit native code |
| JIT | obtained via StikJIT, StikDebug, TrollStore or a jailbreak |
| Building | Mac + Xcode (for self-builds) |
Notes
- No 32-bit apps: iPhones cannot run 32-bit ARM code, APKs with only 32-bit libraries are unsupported
- Pure Java apps limited: Java-only apps without a native engine are not supported on the translation layer, use emulation
- No Play features: Play Games sign-in, cloud saves and purchases are unavailable on the translation layer
- One game at a time: the translation layer runs a single game per launch, switching closes and restarts
