README
Project Overview
This project packages the danmu-api danmaku service as a Magisk module so users without a computer can run, maintain, and switch danmaku API cores right on their phone. Flashing the module automatically downloads the core from GitHub and installs a "Danmu API Manager" app to start, stop, and manage multiple core versions and view logs. It targets rooted devices and users who want to keep power usage low.
Run a local danmaku API service on your phone, no computer required.
Key Features
- One-flash install: flash the module through Magisk to auto-download and install the danmaku API core
- Service control: start, stop, or restart the service from the manager app with live status
- Boot autostart toggle: control whether the service starts on boot without affecting manual start
- Multi-core management: keep multiple core versions and install, switch, delete, or check for updates
- Custom cores: install a custom core by entering a repository and a branch, tag, or commit
- Version readout: parse and show the current core version from its config file
- Log management: view the log tail, clear logs in one tap, and set up periodic auto-cleanup
- Persistent data: cores, logs, and settings live in one place, so upgrading the module keeps them
- Event-driven control: an inotify watcher stops the service the moment the module is disabled
Target Audience
- Android users who have unlocked the bootloader and installed Magisk
- Users who want to run a danmaku API locally on their phone
- Users who want low power use without constant polling
Quick Start
- Download the module zip from Releases; the full version with a bundled Node runtime is recommended
- In Magisk, open "Modules" -> "Install from storage" and pick the downloaded zip
- During flashing, choose whether to connect to GitHub directly; it defaults to direct if no choice is made
- Reboot the phone after flashing completes
- Open "Danmu API Manager" from the home screen and grant root access on first launch
- Install or switch a core on the "Core" page, start the service from the overview page, and optionally enable autostart
Core Advantages
- No computer needed: the whole install and maintenance flow happens on the phone
- Power-conscious: event-driven start/stop and scheduled log cleanup avoid constant polling
- Swappable cores: multiple versions coexist, and custom repositories are supported
- Data kept safe: cores, logs, and settings use a persistent directory, so module upgrades preserve them
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Environment | Android device with unlocked bootloader and Magisk or KernelSU |
| Architecture | arm64 (aarch64) recommended |
| Permissions | Root access required |
| Network | Access to GitHub, or the built-in acceleration lines |
Notes
- A Magisk environment and root access are required; unrooted devices cannot use it
- Switching cores downloads and runs third-party code with root; use only trusted sources
- The full module bundles a Node runtime for arm64; other architectures should use the No-Node version
- The danmaku API core belongs to its upstream authors and follows their respective licenses
