Project Overview
AirBeep is an iOS utility that silences the built-in call-recording disclosure tones. It backs up the original tone files first, replaces the start and stop disclosure sounds with equal-length silence, and can restore them from the backup at any time. All replacements use silent assets from AirliftSilence and keep the original durations, with read-back verification after every write. Backup, silence, and restore are three separate actions with no ambiguous switch state.

Back up first, silence second, restore anytime — three clear steps, no confusing state.
Key Features
- Tone silencing: replaces the start and stop call-recording disclosure tones with equal-length silence
- Separated actions: back up, silence, and restore are independent steps with clear state
- Backup protection: originals are backed up before any change, and backups are kept and never overwritten
- Read-back verification: every write is verified by reading the file back
- One-tap restore: restore the original tones anytime from the Documents backup
- Network settings: advanced settings with a custom device IP and a live network-interface table for the loopback connection
- Bilingual UI: English and Simplified Chinese
Target Audience
- Users in regions where call recording is legal
- iPhone users who need silent recording disclosures
- Users with frequent business calls
- Users who value backups and reversibility
Quick Start
- Open
airbeep.xcodeprojin Xcode, set your signing team, and build to a physical device, or build an unsigned IPA with GitHub Actions and sign it yourself - Open the app and run the backup action to save the original tones
- Run the silence action to replace the start and stop tones with equal-length silence
- To undo, restore the originals from the backup with one tap
Core Advantages
- Fully reversible: originals are backed up and never overwritten, so restoration is always available
- Read-back verification: every replacement is verified to avoid half-finished states
- Equal-length silence: replacement files keep the original durations and do not disturb the recording flow
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | iOS / iPadOS 18.0 to 27.2 B2 |
| Device | Physical iPhone or iPad |
| Build | Xcode 27 or later |
| Network | Loopback connection (LocalDevVPN, default 10.7.0.1) |
Notes
- Version window: only iOS 18.0 to 27.2 B2 are supported; later versions are not guaranteed
- Law and consent: removing a recording disclosure affects whether the other party is notified; use only where legal and with the required consent
- Private behavior: relies on non-public system behavior; compatibility may change between iOS releases
- iOS 26.4 networking: from iOS 26.4, loopback connections also depend on the physical Wi-Fi subnet and must be reconfigured after network changes
