README

Project Overview

Apocalipse combines fast resumable downloads, media discovery, streaming capture and torrent workflows in one lightweight application. Its engine is written in Rust, while browser integrations use the cross-browser WebExtension standard. It ships as portable builds for Windows, Linux and macOS with signed extensions for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. The project is open source and privacy-conscious.

A cross-platform open-source tool that unifies download management, media detection and torrent downloads.

Key Features

  • Resumable downloads: Pause, resume, retry and integrity-check HTTP/HTTPS downloads
  • Media discovery: Detect video, audio and images via signed Chrome, Edge and Firefox extensions
  • Stream capture: Record HLS and export to MP4/AAC, with yt-dlp and FFmpeg integration
  • Torrent support: Download torrents and magnets via aria2 with DHT, PEX and encrypted connections
  • Apocalipse Link: Authenticated, TLS-encrypted file transfers between two computers
  • Task management: Smart priority queue, duplicate protection, searchable history and URL-list import
  • Interface and themes: 21 light and dark themes with configurable rounding and transparency
  • Multilingual: Interface and extension available in English, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese

Target Audience

  • Desktop users who need a cross-platform download manager
  • Users who want to download streaming media such as web video and audio
  • Users who download via torrent or magnet links
  • Users who value privacy and open source
