README
Project Overview
mirrord runs your local process inside a live Kubernetes cluster. It works the same way for developers and AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Windsurf): your code runs locally, but mirrord routes its traffic, files, and environment variables through a target pod in the cluster.
Key Features
- Connect local processes to Kubernetes with real env vars, service responses, and queue contents
- VS Code extension, IntelliJ plugin, and CLI tool
- Get deployment-level feedback in seconds without deploying
- Doesn't disrupt the cluster for anyone else
- AI coding agent integration
Target Audience
- Kubernetes developers
- Teams using AI coding agents
- Engineers who need local development consistent with cluster environments
Quick Start
- VS Code: install mirrord extension from Marketplace
- IntelliJ: install plugin from JetBrains Marketplace
- CLI: see installation docs
- Click "Enable mirrord" or the mirrord icon
- Choose a pod to impersonate and start debugging
Core Advantages

- Adopted by companies like Monday.com and SurveyMonkey
- Open-source and free
System Requirements
- OS: Cross-platform (macOS, Linux, Windows)
- Architectures: x86_64, arm64
- Additional Dependencies: kubectl, Kubernetes cluster access
Notes
- Uses your machine's default kubeconfig for Kubernetes API access
- Supports AI coding agent integration
