README
Project Overview
MPV WebLab Personal is a personal-use Windows x64 MPV.NET web-playback bundle. It packs a configured player runtime, ModernZ/WebLab UI scripts, FFmpeg, yt-dlp, a Chrome/Edge Cookie Sync extension, and a userscript, so you can unzip it and run the install script to get going. The repository only stores the installer, tutorials, browser extensions, and reproducible build scripts, while the large complete player ships as a Release asset.
Install the player, scripts, and browser integration a web-player setup needs in one go.
Key Features
- All-in-one bundle: the player runtime, UI scripts, FFmpeg, and yt-dlp installed together
- ModernZ/WebLab interface: a preconfigured player UI script
- Browser integration: a Chrome/Edge Cookie Sync extension plus a Tampermonkey userscript
- Automatic install: unzip and double-click
start-install.cmd; it installs toD:\Apps\MPV-WebLabby default - Update and uninstall: tutorial docs covering updates, uninstall, and data-retention rules
- Download verification: release assets include
SHA256SUMS.txt, verifiable withGet-FileHash
Target Audience
- Windows users who watch web video with mpv
- People who want to skip manual player and script setup
- Advanced users who want web playback wired to browser cookies
Quick Start
- Download
MPV-WebLab-personal-1.0.0-win-x64.7zandSHA256SUMS.txtfrom Releases - Extract fully and double-click the install script; it installs to
D:\Apps\MPV-WebLabby default (or%LOCALAPPDATA%\MPV-WebLabwhen there is no D drive) - Install the Cookie Sync extension in Chrome or Edge and configure it per the tutorial
- Install the
external-player-weblab-safe-1.5.1.user.jsuserscript in Tampermonkey - Open a web video and let the configured player take over playback
- Read the update-and-uninstall tutorial before updating to keep the data you need
Core Advantages
- Effortless setup: the player, scripts, and browser integration are bundled, so nothing is configured by hand
- Ready out of the box: the install script deploys everything, with tutorials covering common browsers
- Verifiable download: release assets include a checksum file to verify integrity
- Restrained privacy: release builds exclude cookies, caches, watch history, and play records
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows x64 |
| Dependencies | Chrome or Edge (with the Cookie Sync extension), Tampermonkey (for the userscript) |
| Browser support | Chrome, Edge, Tampermonkey; Firefox is not supported yet |
Notes
- Extract fully before running the install script; a single file will not work
- Cookies are generated by the local extension into the install directory's
credentialsfolder, which must never be uploaded, shared, or screenshotted - The full player is about 290 MB and ships only as a Release asset, not with the repository source
- Firefox is currently not supported
