README

Project Overview

Danmaku Player is a transparent danmaku (bullet comment) player for Windows that adds danmaku to your video. It supports Bilibili XML danmaku files as well as protobuf downloads, and can fetch danmaku from Bilibili APIs by av, BV, cid, md, ss, or ep IDs. The UI is built with WinUI 3, rendering uses Win2D, and WebView2 with Playwright enables syncing progress and speed with a web player. It is a transparent, borderless, always-on-top window that overlays your video and renders danmaku in real time.

Overlay Bilibili danmaku onto your local playback.

Key Features

  • Transparent danmaku window: transparent, borderless, always on top, overlaying any player, with a changeable theme color
  • Flexible danmaku sources: open local .xml danmaku or download from Bilibili APIs by av, BV, cid, md, ss, or ep, including multi-part and full danmaku
  • Multiple danmaku types: top, bottom, scrolling, reverse, and colored danmaku
  • Adjustable style: tune opacity, scroll speed, font size, and font, with shadow and stroke effects
  • No overlap and merging: an improved placement algorithm keeps danmaku from overlapping and can merge similar comments
  • Delay calibration: manually offset danmaku to match the video timeline
  • Blocking and limits: regex-based blocking plus per-screen limits for scrolling, top, bottom, and reverse danmaku
  • Playback control: adjust seek step and speed, hold the right button for 3x, with pause and seek shortcuts
  • Web player sync: sync speed, progress, volume, and play/pause with the web player behind it, including videos inside an iframe
  • Remote co-viewing: share progress with others through a remote server

Target Audience

  • Viewers who want danmaku on their local player
  • Users who watch shows in PotPlayer and similar players
  • Bilibili users interested in danmaku rendering

Quick Start

  1. Install Danmaku Player from the Microsoft Store or GitHub Releases
  2. Open the app, choose a local danmaku file, or download danmaku from Bilibili by av, BV, or cid
  3. Drag the transparent window over your video and keep it on top
  4. While playing, adjust danmaku opacity, scroll speed, font size, and delay as needed
  5. When using a web player, enable web player sync to control progress, speed, and volume together

Core Advantages

  • Danmaku on local players: playback stays with your player while a separate transparent layer handles danmaku
  • High fidelity: covers many danmaku types and colored comments, plus basic M7 advanced danmaku
  • Clean viewing: placement and merging keep on-screen danmaku readable
  • Web integration: syncing with the web player keeps progress and speed consistent

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Windows
Runtime WinUI 3 and WebView2
Distribution Microsoft Store or GitHub Releases

Notes

  • Web player sync relies on WebView2 and Playwright automation
  • M7 advanced danmaku tracking, M9 script danmaku, and ASS subtitles are not yet supported
  • Some features are still being refined, so the UI and behavior may change
  • Rendering depends on your GPU and Win2D support
