Project Overview

A ceremonial startup animation usually means playing a video or hard-coding frames, with no skipping and no editable copy. dsh-startup-screen renders a six-act sequence live on Canvas instead: brand mark, overexposed wash, warm-white archive panel, five-step access authorization, and a chromatic-aberration reveal, paced by audio duration, with every step interactive, skippable (Esc works), and re-wordable. Chinese text uses a real 500 weight without per-character blur, over a live light field of stardust, bezier streaks, data rain, and a bottom waterline.

Supported Hosts

  • DeepSeek Harness desktop: the desktop profile, installed in the Electron environment
  • web profile: shares the same plugin package with the desktop
  • Tested platform: verified on Windows 11 with Edge/Electron, macOS and Linux unverified
  • Chinese fonts: prefers Noto Sans SC, falling back to PingFang SC and Microsoft YaHei

Key Features

  • Six-act sequence: brand mark, overexposed wash, archive panel, five-step authorization, and reveal, paced by audio duration
  • Living background: Canvas stardust and streaks run constantly, dimming near the center so titles stay readable
  • Real audio plus synthesis: uses real assets when present, falling back to TTS or WebAudio synthesis otherwise
  • 33 settings: identity name, serial, clearance level, palette, speed, voice, line-by-line copy, all effective immediately
  • Real self-check: the five SELF-CHECK items on the right read from host context, not decoration

Install & Enable

  1. Download dsh-startup-screen-1.6.0.tgz from Releases
  2. Fully exit the DeepSeek Harness desktop app (the profile is Electron-exclusive)
  3. Run dsh plugin --profile desktop add ./dsh-startup-screen-1.6.0.tgz and restart
  4. For a preview first, open package/preview/index.html offline

Notes

  • Asset boundary: the repo ships no original lines, sound effects, or commercial BGM, only the author's recorded final welcome line, degrading gracefully without assets
  • Community work: unaffiliated with DeepSeek, MIT code, modified from upstream 1.1.0 with original copyright kept
  • Testing bar: visual changes need screenshots checked against both themes, and all 352 smoke assertions green before delivery
