Project Overview

QPyPack is a cross-platform graphical packaging tool built for Python developers. By deeply integrating the dual-core engines of PyInstaller (interpreter and bytecode packaging) and Nuitka (C/C++ native compilation), it abstracts cumbersome low-level compiler parameters, implicit dependency analysis, environment isolation, and resource collection into an intuitive visual interface. Whether packaging lightweight CLI scripts or desktop/server applications with large complex dependencies (such as PySide6 / PyQt, Playwright, CustomTkinter, FastAPI, etc.), QPyPack delivers stable, high-success-rate, and reproducible build experiences.

Key Features

  • Seamless dual-engine switching: PyInstaller offers fast builds with zero C compiler dependencies; Nuitka translates Python source into C/C++ binaries for fast execution, strong anti-decompilation, and small output size
  • LTO link optimization and module pruning: Supports --lto=yes link-time optimization in Lite Mode; automatically identifies and prunes unreferenced heavy submodules (e.g., WebEngine, 3D, Quick) for PySide/PyQt
  • Flexible output formats: Supports onefile (--onefile) and onedir (--onedir) modes, with customizable internal contents directory (--contents-directory)
  • Native AST recursive scanning: Built-in pure-Python abstract syntax tree static analyzer recursively analyzes dependency imports in source code and project directories without executing code
  • Smart package name mapping system: Built-in import-name to PyPI-name mapping for mainstream third-party libraries (e.g., cv2 → opencv-python, PIL → pillow), with user-customizable extensions
  • Deprecated backport dynamic isolation: Automatically identifies and blocks outdated backport libraries that conflict with built-in modules of the target Python version
  • C/C++ compiler auto-provisioning: Automatically detects local MSVC, Clang (LLVM), and GCC environments; when missing, the Nuitka engine automatically downloads and manages a compatible MinGW-w64 toolchain
  • Environment lifecycle management: Supports isolated and shared virtual environment modes; one-click scanning and space cleanup for stale virtual environments
  • Adaptive resources and error self-healing: Pre-build disk and physical memory assessment; adaptive concurrency reduction under low memory; automatic interception of memory allocation overflows with single-thread low-memory retry
  • Smart digital signature management: Automatically applies Authenticode digital signatures after Windows output (compatible with Signtool and PowerShell engines, integrated with RFC 3161 timestamping); supports one-click codesign on macOS
  • Self-signed certificate suite: Built-in Windows self-signed code signing certificate (.pfx) generation tool
  • Project configuration preset import/export: Export all build parameters, resource manifests, and mapping rules as standalone .qpypack project preset files
  • Drag-and-drop ready: Drag Python source in to automatically parse module metadata, infer entry points, and match sibling resource icons
  • Vector rendering and global i18n: Full interface drawn with Google Material SVG vector icons, built-in instant internationalization system covering 17 languages

Target Audience

  • Python developers who need to package scripts or applications into executables
  • Developers who need code protection for commercial delivery (Nuitka native compilation)
  • Teams needing a cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) packaging solution

Quick Start

  1. Install via pip / pipx (recommended): In a Python >= 3.8 environment, run pip install qpypack, then run qpypack to launch the GUI; you can also use pipx run qpypack or uvx qpypack for isolated execution
  2. Use the standalone pre-compiled version: No need to pre-install Python — download the executable for your OS directly from GitHub Releases
  3. First-time users: Check the 3-minute Quick Start Guide (QUICKSTART.md) for detailed tutorials and typical scenario configurations

Core Advantages

  • Dual-engine powered: One interface supports both PyInstaller and Nuitka for flexible build strategies
  • Visual configuration: Abstracts low-level compiler parameters, dependency analysis, and environment isolation into an intuitive interface, dramatically lowering the packaging barrier
  • High success rate and reproducibility: Built-in dependency analysis, environment management, and error self-healing ensure stable and reliable builds
  • Cross-platform support: Windows, macOS, and Linux, with 17 language interfaces
  • Build output copyright autonomy: The intellectual property and open-source licensing of the final applications and binary artifacts built with QPyPack are entirely at the user's discretion; QPyPack's GPL-3.0 license imposes no viral constraints on your compiled output

System Requirements

  • OS: Windows, macOS, Linux
  • Additional Dependencies: Python >= 3.8 (for pip installation); the pre-compiled version requires no pre-installed Python
