Project Overview

eDesktop is a Windows desktop organizer and productivity tool that manages storage boxes, sticky notes, todos, a pomodoro timer, and the desktop pet Xiaoqi from one control center. Storage boxes tidy desktop files, folders, shortcuts, and system icons with drag ordering and double-click opening; the pet connects to a local Ollama instance — say "organize my desktop" and it drafts a sorting plan that only moves files after you preview and confirm. All data lives in the data folder next to the app, and AI inference runs locally.

Quick Start

1. Download the portable ZIP from Releases, extract fully, and run eDesktop.exe, keeping the whole folder
2. Open the control center from the system tray and add boxes, notes, and todos
3. For AI features, install and start Ollama with a chat model
4. Press Ctrl+Alt+V to talk, or say "organize my desktop" in the chat window

• Ollama required: desktop cleanup and natural-language features need local Ollama with a chat model; manual settings do not
• First voice download: the speech model is about 229MB and downloads with verification on first use
• Keep data on upgrade: preserve the data folder when replacing program files — all personal data lives there
• Unsigned notice: no commercial code signing, so SmartScreen may appear on first run; verify the SHA-256 attached to the Release
