Project Overview
MirroLeap is an Android desktop mirroring tool for Windows users, developed by slobys on top of scrcpy-gui with scrcpy as the casting engine and a Tauri desktop shell. It rounds out the presentation toolkit the original lacked: portrait/landscape device frames, a floating control bar, annotation pens, a spotlight with freeze-frame magnifier, MirroCapture screenshot compositing, and a smart wireless center that remembers quality per device. USB and wireless both work, including Android 11+ wireless-debug pairing and mDNS discovery.
Mirror, annotate, present, and capture — one app puts the phone on your desktop.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Platform | Windows 10/11 x64 (ZIP / NSIS EXE / MSI) |
| Stack | Tauri + scrcpy |
| Quality | 480P~4K tiers with GPU decode detection (D3D11VA) |
| Versions | v5.0.20 stable, v5.1.x pre-release |
| License | MIT |
Key Features
- Minimal home: connect a phone, pick resolution, toggle sound and device frame, one-click start and stop
- Frames and pens: portrait/landscape device bezels, floating toolbar, annotation pen, eraser, undo, and one-click reset
- MirroPresent: live spotlight and freeze-frame magnifier in the floating bar, wheel-sized circle, Ctrl+wheel zoom, touch restored on exit
- MirroCapture: ADB saves raw PNGs or pen-composited shots to Downloads with preview and copy, never cloud-uploaded
- Smart wireless center: wireless-debug pairing, mDNS discovery, staged connection status, backoff reconnects, and history labels
- Auto quality (off by default): cautious tiering from real FPS and skipped-frame samples, at least 3 minutes apart, auto-capped at 2K
- Clipboard and drag-drop: two-way text clipboard sync, and up to 30 files dragged from Windows into the phone's Download folder
- Pro mode: camera, virtual display, encoders, recording, shortcuts, and logs organized into settings
Quality Tiers
| Tier | Max long edge | Bitrate | Max FPS | Codec |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 720P smooth | 1280 | 4 Mbps | 60 | H.264 |
| 1080P balanced | 1920 | 8 Mbps | 60 | H.264 |
| 2K HD | 2560 | 16 Mbps | 60 | H.264 |
| 4K best | 3840 | 20 Mbps | 30 | H.264 |
Switching tiers during mirroring restarts the video stream automatically and restores window position, frame, and topmost state, falling back to old quality when the new stream fails.
Quick Start
- Download ZIP, EXE, or MSI from Releases (SHA-256 attached, no Authenticode signing, SmartScreen prompts expected)
- Connect over USB with debugging on, or pair from the wireless page with a code
- Choose resolution and frame on the home page, then start mirroring
- Turn on the spotlight to present, annotate with the pen, capture via Settings → Tools & logs
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11 x64 |
| Engine | scrcpy (version and GPU decode capability detected in-app) |
| Wireless | Android 11+ wireless debugging pairing, older via USB-to-wireless |
| Updates | Signed official Releases verified at startup, upgrades need user confirmation |
Notes
- Pre-release isolation: v5.1.x is a Windows pre-release while v5.0.20 stays stable, real-device ROM checks continue
- Port changes: Android 11+ wireless ports shift, a single new port on the same IP needs manual identity verification before switching — never automatic
- Parameter meaning: tiers are scrcpy long-edge and FPS caps, they do not change the phone's physical resolution or guarantee constant 60 fps
- Clipboard limits: actual copy/paste depends on Android version and app policies, MirroLeap neither reads nor stores clipboard text
