TheDeathDragon

AndroidMCP is an MCP server written in C# .NET 8 that drives Android 11+ devices over the ADB protocol directly, offering 30+ tools for screenshots, UI tree dumps, element targeting and package management, with multi-device support and an on-device agent for faster UI ops.

README

Project Overview

AndroidMCP is an MCP server for Android 11+ devices implemented in C# and .NET 8, speaking the ADB protocol directly instead of shelling out, so MCP clients such as Claude Code can take screenshots, read view hierarchies, tap and swipe, and manage apps.

It ships 30+ tools, manages multiple devices by serial, and can deploy an on-device agent server to speed up UI operations. Windows and Linux install scripts fetch the latest release and can merge the Claude Code config automatically.

Item Value
Platform Windows, Linux x86_64 (host side)
Device requirement Android 11+, adb on PATH
Stack C# .NET 8, direct ADB protocol
License Apache-2.0

Let coding agents actually operate Android devices: screenshots, taps and package installs in one toolbox.

Key Features

  • Device enumeration and info: list_devices shows adb-visible devices, device_info and screen_size report details
  • Screen and hierarchy: screenshot returns a PNG, dump_hierarchy outputs lean JSON or raw XML view trees
  • Element-level ops: find_element, tap_element, wait_for_element and scroll_until_visible handle selector targeting and stable scrolling
  • Input and keys: click, long_press, swipe, input_text, key_event plus home/back/recents system keys
  • App management: install_apk, list_packages, launch_app, stop_app, clear_app_data and enable/disable per package
  • Files and shell: push_file and pull_file copy both ways, shell runs arbitrary adb shell commands
  • On-device agent: the agent-server JAR runs on the device to accelerate screenshots and UI operations
  • One-shot install: Windows and Linux scripts pull the latest release and can auto-write the Claude Code config with AutoConfig

Target Audience

  • Developers automating Android with Claude Code
  • QA engineers scripting app UI tests
  • Device farm keepers managing many phones or emulators
  • Tinkerers who want AI agents to handle repetitive phone tasks

Quick Start

  1. Make sure adb is installed and on PATH with USB debugging enabled on the device
  2. Run the PowerShell or shell installer, adding the AutoConfig flag if wanted
  3. Run /reload-plugins in Claude Code to load the tools
  4. Call list_devices first to get a serial, then use other tools per serial
  5. Call wake_unlock once if the device may be asleep or locked

Core Advantages

  • Direct protocol: no command-line glue, ADB sessions are steadier and faster
  • Broad toolset: from screenshots to package installs, 30+ tools cover common device work
  • Agent acceleration: the on-device service offloads UI ops for snappier responses
  • Effortless setup: scripted install with optional config merging, ready right after

System Requirements

Item Requirement
Host OS Windows or Linux x86_64
Runtime Linux build is self-contained, no .NET runtime needed
Device OS Android 11 or later
Dependency adb on PATH

Notes

  • adb required: every capability relies on a working adb on the host, install platform tools first
  • No musl support: the Linux build is glibc-based and will not run on Alpine or other musl distros
  • Unfiltered shell tool: shell executes arbitrary adb shell commands with a 60 s timeout, use only with trusted devices
  • AutoConfig edits config: auto configuration merges into ~/.claude.json, add the config block manually if you prefer
