README

Project Overview

OpenClash is a LuCI plugin for OpenWrt that manages the Mihomo (formerly Clash Meta) core, compatible with mainstream protocols including Shadowsocks, ShadowsocksR, VMess, VLESS, Trojan, Snell, TUIC and Hysteria, achieving on-demand routing and transparent proxying through flexible rule configuration.

It is open source under MIT, ships in both ipk and apk package formats, and supports OpenWrt 18.06 and later, making it one of the most widely used proxy panels in the soft-router community.

Item Value
Platform OpenWrt 18.06+
Form LuCI plugin (ipk/apk)
Core Mihomo (Clash Meta) and Smart core
License MIT

A veteran proxy panel for soft routers: rule-based routing, subscription conversion and streaming line selection in one place.

Key Features

  • Core management: built-in Mihomo (Meta) and Smart cores with online updates and one-click switching
  • Multiple running modes: redir-host, fake-ip and mixed modes plus TUN, working with both iptables and nftables
  • Subscription management: multiple subscriptions side by side, Subconverter conversion, custom User-Agent and headers
  • Config management: one-click profile switching, online editing, backup/restore and Age encryption
  • Access control: blacklists, whitelists and custom firewall rules to decide which devices use the proxy
  • Streaming selection: automatic line picking for Netflix, Disney+, HBO and more
  • Modular overrides: override YAML in modules for easy customization of profiles

Target Audience

  • Home and studio users running OpenWrt soft routers
  • Advanced users who want routing-layer traffic splitting
  • Users juggling several subscriptions at once
  • Streaming fans who care about unlocking experiences

Quick Start

  1. Download the package for your package manager (ipk or apk) from the Release page
  2. Log into LuCI and upload the package under System → Software
  3. Open Services → OpenClash and import a subscription or upload a profile
  4. Download the core on first use, so confirm network access beforehand
  5. Pick a running mode, start it and adjust routing rules as needed

Core Advantages

  • Mature ecosystem: long-term maintenance, thorough docs and an active community
  • Complete mode set: from transparent proxy to TUN, covering varied networks
  • Wide protocol support: mainstream proxy protocols all in one
  • Free customization: overrides and firewall rules leave room for deep tinkering

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS OpenWrt 18.06 or later
Package manager opkg (ipk) or apk
Dependencies bash, dnsmasq-full, curl, ruby-yaml, kmod-tun etc., with iptables or nftables suites per firewall type

Notes

  • Core download on first run: Mihomo must be downloaded after install, verify network reachability ahead of time
  • Dependencies follow the firewall: iptables and nftables (Firewall4) need different packages, install per your system
  • dnsmasq conflict: dnsmasq-full is required and mutually exclusive with the default dnsmasq, watch the replacement during install
