Project Overview
Miracast Receiver is a casting receiver app for Android TV that lets your TV directly receive casts from phones, tablets, and computers. It supports three protocols at once: AirPlay, DLNA/UPnP, and Miracast/WFD, and can receive casts from mainstream apps such as Bilibili, Youku, iQiyi, and Emby, plus Windows wireless displays and Android's built-in screen casting. It handles HTTP/HTTPS, HLS live streams, and many video formats, offers speed and quality selection, and can start the receiving service in the background after the TV boots.
Let your Android TV receive AirPlay, DLNA, and Miracast casts without ads.
Key Features
- AirPlay support: screen mirroring, video casting, and audio streaming from iPhone, iPad, and Mac
- DLNA/UPnP support: compatible with video apps like Bilibili, Youku, and iQiyi, plus Windows Media Player, VLC, Emby, and Plex
- Miracast/WFD: the protocol shared by Windows wireless displays and Android screen casting, with Wi-Fi Direct and WFD IE injection
- Strong playback: HTTP/HTTPS video streams, HLS live streams, and formats like MP4, MKV, and AVI, plus image slideshows
- Playback control: 0.5x to 2x speed and 480p to 1080p quality selection
- Auto-start on boot: starts the receiving service in the background after boot, waiting for a LAN IP before starting so advertisements never bind to the wrong address
- Easy install: ARM64 and ARM32 packages, installable via USB or ADB
Target Audience
- Users who want their TV to receive casts from phones and computers
- Users annoyed by casting ads and time limits
- Users who want to use their TV as a wireless second display
Quick Start
- Download the latest APK from Releases; pick ARM64 for most modern Android TVs and ARM32 for older devices
- Install on the TV via USB or ADB, e.g.
adb install app-release.apk - Launch Miracast Receiver on the Android TV; it shows the device name, IP address, and connection code
- iPhone or iPad: open Control Center → Screen Mirroring → select the device name
- Android phone: tap the cast button in a DLNA-enabled app and select the device, or use the system's screen casting
- Windows: use "Play To" from a player or media server, or press
Win+Kto connect a wireless display
Core Advantages
- All protocols covered: AirPlay, DLNA, and Miracast together, so phones, tablets, and computers can all cast
- No ad interruptions: a self-built receiver free from third-party casting app ads and time limits
- Ready on boot: the service starts automatically after boot and waits for the network to be ready, with no need to open the app
- Capable playback: live streams and common video formats are supported, with speed and quality switching
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Android 5.0+ (min API 21) |
| Device | Android TV; some Miracast features require the TV to be rooted |
| Permission | Requires the "display over other apps" permission |
Notes
- Miracast needs root on some TVs: TVs with built-in screen mirroring do not need root, while those without need root to inject the WFD IE
- Since Android 10 the system blocks background pop-ups, so without the "display over other apps" permission the playback page is intercepted when casting
- In Android and Windows Miracast lists, the name shown may be the system default, which apps cannot control
- Some Emby clients' SOAP request formats may need special handling
- The app is not affiliated with platforms such as Bilibili, Youku, or iQiyi
