README
Project Overview
MusicRecorder is a small Windows desktop utility for capturing the song currently playing in a music app. It reads track information from the system media session (QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Kugou and others), rewinds the song to the start, records the system audio via WASAPI loopback, and exports an MP3 named "song-artist" when playback ends. The result is a complete song with no manual trimming.
An automatic recording tool for Windows users who want to keep local copies of playing songs
Key Features
- Auto-detection: reads the title, artist, album and progress from QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Kugou, Kuwo, Migu, Spotify and PotPlayer
- Rewind playback: automatically rewinds the current song to the start and picks a positioning method based on what the player supports
- Single-track auto-record: recording starts as soon as you press play, and the player pauses when it finishes
- Playlist recording: continues with the next track automatically and exports each song as a separate MP3
- System audio capture: uses WASAPI loopback to record the system output without relying on a stereo-mix device
- Auto stop and naming: stops at the end of a track, on song change or when playback stops, then names the MP3 "song-artist" and writes ID3 tags
Target Audience
- Music lovers: users who want to keep complete local MP3 copies of songs they play online
- Collectors: people who need tagged audio files organized by song title
- Windows users: those who listen with desktop clients such as QQ Music or NetEase Cloud Music
Quick Start
- Open a music app and play a song
- Run MusicRecorder.exe, then choose an export path at the top
- Click the Start Recording button at the bottom
- When playback ends the app stops automatically and produces "song-artist.mp3" in the export folder
Core Advantages
- No manual editing: track boundaries are detected automatically and recording starts from the beginning
- Lossless capture: loopback captures digital audio directly, with selectable 128 to 320 kbps bitrates
- No dependencies: the portable single-file build bundles its runtime and runs on a double click
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 or later |
| Architecture | x64, x86, arm64 |
| Runtime | The portable build bundles the .NET runtime, so no separate install is needed |
Notes
- Recorded audio should be used only for personal, lawful purposes and in line with copyright rules
- The rewind behavior depends on what the player reports; some players return to the start by switching tracks
- While "record the whole playlist" is enabled, the "pause playback when done" option is greyed out
