Project Overview

Dusting is a Windows junk cleanup tool written in Go with giu that gathers cleanup and system management in one window. It has nine tabs covering system junk, AppData, user folders, program leftovers, uninstalling, window handles, duplicate files, empty folders, and non-system drive cleanup. It also offers 50 hidden Windows features and utilities grouped into seven categories, with hover hints for each.

Key Features

• System junk: scans system caches, temporary files, and other common junk
• AppData cleanup: fixed targets plus zombie-directory detection and a safe cache whitelist, in four protection layers
• User folder cleanup: scans downloads, recent items, and thumbnail caches, including hidden folders
• Program leftovers: keyword token splitting plus a built-in brand table to detect leftover folders from uninstalled programs
• Uninstalling: category filters, Store app detection, and deep uninstall that also cleans leftover folders and registry entries
• Duplicate files: groups by content MD5 and keeps one copy at the primary location
• Empty folders: scans empty directories and cleans from deepest to shallowest
• Non-system drive cleanup: auto-detects non-system drives and scans empty folders, cache directories, and junk files

Quick Start

1. Run dusting.exe, preferably as administrator for fuller capabilities
2. Pick a tab on the left and click Scan at the bottom
3. Tick the items to clean and click Clean, then confirm
4. Results are logged live in the log area for review
