README

Project Overview

VideoSee is an Android local image and video viewer built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Media3, and Coil. It focuses on personal media browsing: view by folder, author, or tag, preview full-screen quickly, rate authors and individual media with heart levels, back up heart and tag data manually, and download missing media from a computer on the same LAN.

A phone tool to organize, rate, and back up your own local media.

Key Features

  • Multi-dimensional browsing: switch among folder, author, and tag collections on the left, with media shown on the right
  • Heart ratings: rate authors and individual media from 1 to 3 hearts, with hollow hearts when unrated
  • Tag filtering: intersection filtering across multiple tags, and add or remove tags in full screen
  • Full-screen viewing: swipe up or down to change media, with double-tap play/pause, speed, and gesture seeking
  • Image adjustment: tone curves and brightness/contrast with savable presets, plus manual rotation and angle lock
  • Video enhancements: seek bar, current time and duration display, and screenshots saved to the system gallery
  • Data backup: export or import heart and tag data as JSON for easy migration
  • LAN download: configure server IP, port, and token to download media not yet synced
  • TS conversion: combine local HLS segments and keys into MP4 and publish to the media library

Target Audience

  • Users who browse large private photo and video collections on their phone
  • People who need to rate and organize media
  • Those who sync media between computer and phone over a LAN

Quick Start

  1. Install the Debug APK (arm64-v8a) from Releases or your own build
  2. On first launch, grant photo and video access permissions
  3. Pick a folder, author, or tag collection on the left to start browsing
  4. Open the "Data Backup" page to export heart and tag JSON before switching devices
  5. For LAN download, enter the server IP, port, and token on the download page

Core Advantages

  • Local-first: browse and manage on-device media without an internet connection
  • Intuitive organization: author and tag collections with heart ratings make filtering clear
  • Controllable data: one-click JSON export and import for simple backup and migration

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Android 8.0+ (min API 26)
Architecture arm64-v8a
Build environment Android SDK, JDK 17+

Notes

  • Export heart and tag JSON before uninstalling or clearing data, or it will be lost
  • LAN download uses plain HTTP and is recommended only on trusted networks
  • TS conversion needs a local 16-byte AES-128 key; missing keys or segments trigger diagnostics
