README

Project Overview

Magpie is an AI gateway that runs locally and connects coding agents to the models you want: Claude Code on Kimi, Codex on DeepSeek, Gemini CLI on GLM, OpenCode on ChatGPT, with any combination you like.

It lives in the menu bar for one-click control, and all agent traffic forwards through the local gateway with no third-party relay. macOS, Windows, Linux, Docker and Termux are supported, the CLI ships separately in the magpie-releases repository, and the project is MIT licensed.

Item Value
Platform macOS, Windows, Linux, Docker, Termux
Form local gateway app (menu bar) + CLI
Purpose unify models and accounts for coding agents
License MIT

One local gateway: Claude Code on Kimi, Codex on DeepSeek, accounts rotating themselves when quotas dry up.

Key Features

  • Agents on any model: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and OpenCode can point at Kimi, DeepSeek, GLM, ChatGPT and more
  • Local gateway: requests forward through your machine, never a third-party relay
  • Menu bar control: start, stop and switch without leaving your workflow
  • Account rotation: when the current account runs dry, the next one takes over automatically
  • Broad platform support: native macOS, Windows and Linux, plus Docker and Termux
  • Separate CLI: the command-line build lives in magpie-releases for servers and scripts

Target Audience

  • Developers driving Claude Code with domestic models
  • Heavy users juggling several model accounts
  • Privacy-conscious folks avoiding third-party relays
  • Teams unifying proxy config across machines and containers

Quick Start

  1. Download the app for your platform from Releases, or grab the CLI from magpie-releases
  2. Start Magpie and enter your model account credentials in settings
  3. Point your coding agent's endpoint at the local gateway
  4. Pick the model combination for the current agent in the menu bar
  5. When quota runs out the gateway rotates to the next account by itself

Core Advantages

  • Free combinations: any supported agent pairs with any supported model, switched on a click
  • Local forwarding: data paths you control, keys never pass through strangers' servers
  • Automatic rotation: quota exhaustion switches silently, long tasks keep running
  • Wide coverage: desktops, containers and even Termux phones can run it

System Requirements

Item Requirement
Desktop macOS, Windows, Linux
Other forms Docker image or Termux
External valid accounts and credentials on each model platform

Notes

  • Compliance is yours: check the terms of each model platform when accessing it through the gateway
  • CLI is separate: the command-line build is not in this repo's Releases, fetch it from magpie-releases
  • Per-agent setup: each coding agent needs its own endpoint pointed at the local gateway
