README

Project Overview

uosc-video-tags is a standalone module that extends the uosc playback interface, showing the current media's technical parameters in the lower-left corner above the controls bar. It displays decoder mode, HDR type, video codec, resolution, frame rate, audio channels, and audio codec to help you judge a source quickly. The module is fully standalone and does not modify uosc's core, so updating uosc only requires copying this module again.

Put a source's codec and spec info quietly above the controls bar.

Key Features

  • Parameter tags: shows the current media's codec, resolution, HDR, and audio info above the controls bar
  • Auto-show and fade: displays at playback start for a while and then fades smoothly, with configurable duration
  • Decoder detection: shows whether hardware or software decoding is in use
  • HDR type detection: distinguishes SDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid
  • Video codec detection: recognizes AVC, HEVC, AV1, VP9, VVC, and AVS3
  • Resolution and frame rate: shows resolution tiers from 8K down to 720P and integer frame rates
  • Audio info: shows channel layout and audio codec such as DTS-HD MA, TrueHD, and Audio Vivid
  • Domestic standard detection: multi-checks HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid and labels them in Chinese
  • No extra dependencies: a single self-contained file, with no ffprobe or external modules

Target Audience

  • Users of the uosc interface who care about source specs
  • Users who need to confirm hardware decoding and HDR types
  • People curious about domestic audio/video standards
  • Advanced players who like informative visual cues

Quick Start

  1. Make sure you are already using the uosc interface
  2. Copy this module's code into the appropriate place for uosc; no core changes are needed
  3. Configure options such as display duration in script-opts/mediainfo.conf
  4. Set the auto-show seconds for playback start, or 0 to disable the feature
  5. Play a video to see the technical tags above the controls bar

Core Advantages

  • Standalone module: does not intrude on uosc's core, so upgrades just copy the module code
  • Clear information: codec, HDR, and audio specs at a glance
  • Broad detection: covers mainstream codecs and domestic standards
  • Zero dependencies: a single self-contained file that is easy to deploy

System Requirements

Item Requirement
Target interface uosc
Player mpv
OS Windows, macOS, Linux
Dependencies None (single self-contained file)

Notes

  • A working uosc environment is required first; this module is only an extension
  • The tag order is fixed, so adjusting it means editing the module code
  • Domestic standard detection relies on properties and metadata the player provides, so results vary by source
