README
Project Overview
MR is a Flutter-based cross-platform multimedia reader compatible with the Legado book source rule system, including CSS, JSONPath, XPath, and JavaScript rules plus java bridge objects. It merges novels, manga, audio, and video into one app, so the same source works on Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, Web, and desktop.
One set of source rules for novels, manga, audiobooks, and video.
Key Features
- Rule compatibility: supports CSS/JSoup selectors, JSONPath, XPath, JavaScript, regex replacement, and template rules
- JS engine: a C-native QuickJS engine with ES2020 support and a shared cross-engine scope
- Crypto compatibility: CryptoJS APIs and java bridge crypto methods, unified on a C-native implementation
- Four readers: novel reader, manga reader, audio player, and video player
- Image decryption: cover and content image decryption with a custom ImageProvider that keeps Flutter's image cache reusable
- Source management: Legado JSON import/export with source debugging and an execution trace tree
- Cross-platform: one codebase for Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, Web, Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Crash protection: global error capture, async error fallback, and crash-log recovery at startup
Target Audience
- Users who want one set of sources across platforms
- People reading novels, manga, audiobooks, and video in one app
- Developers debugging and building book sources
- Flutter developers building cross-platform reading apps
Quick Start
- Install Flutter 3.41 or later
- Run
flutter pub get - Connect a device and run
flutter run - Import Legado source JSON in source management to start searching and reading
- Build with
flutter build apk, flutter build ios, orflutter build hap
Core Advantages
- Write once, run everywhere: sources need no per-platform changes, and Web starts a CORS proxy automatically
- Solid performance: rule parsing and crypto run in C with built-in memory tracking and timeout circuit-breaking
- Debug friendly: the execution trace tree shows what each rule captured and where it came up empty
- Stability first: the crash log service initializes first, and every service init is wrapped with fallbacks
System Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, Web, Windows, Linux, macOS |
| Dev environment | Flutter 3.41 and above |
| Build deps | Android NDK 28.x, CMake 3.22 and above |
Notes
- Legado java package classes (
io.legado.app.*) are not supported, so sources depending on them may not run - HarmonyOS builds are unsigned and must be signed in DevEco Studio before installing
- The project uses Chinese comments and identifiers throughout, worth noting when reading the source
- The app provides no content; import your own sources
