README

Project Overview

Agent Minecraft Launcher (AMCL) is a Minecraft launcher with an AI assistant built into its interface. The regular mode keeps the full launcher workflow, while AI mode puts the conversation in the main window, and both share instances, downloads, and settings. Through tool calls, the AI can read game logs and crash reports, install mods, create and back up instances, and even send commands to a running game to help with real problems.

A launcher with an AI helper that handles errors and mod installs for you.

Key Features

  • AI assistant: a built-in chat panel that defaults to DeepSeek and also supports Ollama and LM Studio local models
  • Tool calling: the AI can list instances, search mods, read logs, install mods, create instances, and change settings
  • In-game AI: type /ai in game to ask questions and send commands
  • Instance management: organizes version-isolated instances in a PCL2 style, sharing libraries and assets
  • Modpack import: modpack import, per-mod enable and disable, and one-click backup
  • Mod management: Modrinth Chinese search, version filtering, and a recommended list
  • Dependency analysis: offline parsing of mod dependencies and conflicts into a relationship graph
  • Command center: common command templates plus a per-instance command library
  • Recipe analysis: query recipes in Chinese, expand the full crafting tree, and total the materials
  • Multiple logins: offline and premium login methods

Target Audience

  • Players who want AI help diagnosing launch errors
  • Players who frequently install mods and modpacks
  • Privacy-conscious users running local models
  • Advanced users who need to script the launcher

Quick Start

  1. Pick the package matching your system from Releases: Windows standard, Windows with preinstalled local AI, or Linux
  2. Run the Windows standard exe directly; extract the local AI build first; extract the Linux tar.gz before running
  3. Choose the game directory and login method in the first-run guide
  4. Enter a DeepSeek API key under "Settings → AI", or switch to Ollama / LM Studio local models
  5. AI permission defaults to read-only; switch to "workspace writable" when it needs to install mods or send commands
  6. Optionally install bridge-mod so the in-game AI gets precise command and data channels

Core Advantages

  • The AI can really act: beyond chatting, it operates the launcher to complete tasks
  • Local model option: with Ollama or LM Studio, data never leaves your machine
  • Controllable permissions: read-only by default, with write operations requiring an explicit switch
  • Errors handled: a crash watchdog and log analysis help you locate problems

System Requirements

Item Requirement
OS Windows, Linux x86_64
Distribution Windows single exe, ZIP with local AI, Linux tar.gz
Runtime Java required (the launcher can manage it)
AI service A DeepSeek API key, or Ollama / LM Studio local models

Notes

  • The Windows build is not commercially code-signed, so SmartScreen may prompt on first run
  • You can download the build with preinstalled local AI to avoid the first-time model download
  • After moving the local AI build, rerun the shortcut script included in the package
  • Check log contents before filing an issue, since redaction cannot catch every form of personal information
