README

Project Overview

RPFM is a Rust + Qt6 reimplementation of PackFile Manager, one of the best Total War modding tools. It opens, inspects, edits and saves PackFiles for every Total War since Empire: Total War, bundling editors for DB tables, loc files, scripts, animations, portrait settings, rigid models and videos into one interface.

One tool opens every Total War pack — mod without switching apps.

Key Features

  • PackFile editing: open, inspect, edit and save pack files across the whole series
  • DB table editor: built-in tables editor validated by per-game RON schemas
  • Loc editing: view and batch-edit localization files
  • Script editing: support for game scripts and LUA-related content
  • Animations & models: animation editor, portrait settings and RigidModel handling
  • Media formats: view and import proprietary video and audio formats
  • Translator tool: produce translation JSONs for the Total War Translation Hub
  • UI localization: copy the ftl file in the locale folder to translate the interface

Target Audience

  • Total War modders
  • Mod translation contributors
  • Players researching game data formats
  • Linux-playing Total War fans

Quick Start

  1. Download the package for your platform from Releases; on Windows just extract and run
  2. On Linux use the AUR rpfm-bin, Flatpak, or install Qt6, xz and 7zip
  3. Open a game .pack file or data folder in RPFM
  4. Edit the tables or files you want and save back into the game

Core Advantages

  • Full-series support: one tool from Empire to the latest title
  • Integrated editors: tables, scripts, animations and models in a single app
  • Open source & cross-platform: official builds for Windows and Linux
