Project Overview

Legado NG is an Android reader aiming at a next-generation reading experience, supporting custom book sources and local books. Building on the Legado source-rule ecosystem, it redesigns the main pages with transparent glass, liquid glass, and dynamic backgrounds, and adds AI-assisted reading and multi-voice TTS. The app provides only a reader, rule engine, and management tools — no books or sources.

• Online and local reading: import custom sources to search multiple providers, browse, and switch sources, or scan and import local TXT/EPUB
• Bookshelf: list or grid view with grouping, sorting, reading history, bookmarks, and related works
• Interface and themes: transparent glass, liquid glass, soft glow, and dynamic backgrounds, with per-book reading colors and page-turn modes
• AI reading aid: clean paragraphs or chapters, generate replacement rules, analyze books, build character cards, and chat around the current book
• Multi-voice TTS: assign voices to characters using system or online engines, with cross-chapter playback, pre-caching, and offline audiobook caching
• Sources and rules: import, edit, log in, group, and batch-manage sources, and author TOC and content rules
• AI services and extensions: connect multiple AI providers, extend via skills and tool calls, and expose data to external tools through a built-in MCP service
• Backup and debugging: WebDAV backup and restore, step-by-step rule debugging, and log viewing

Quick Start

1. Download the latest APK from Releases and install it
2. On first use, import your book sources or feeds, or import local TXT/EPUB directly
3. Configure AI services and online TTS engines in settings as needed
4. Open a book and choose theme, colors, and page-turn mode in the reading view
5. For listening, open the TTS panel and assign voices to characters

• The standalone script runtime used by some JavaScript sources is still experimental
