README

Project Overview

Fanqie Novel Downloader is a cross-platform novel tool built with Rust and Tauri v2, offering search, book details, in-app reading, bookshelf management, and TXT and EPUB downloads. Desktop and mobile share the same front end and Rust backend, with a responsive layout, light and dark themes, and multiple languages. It reads online, caches whole books as an offline library, and records local reading progress and duration.

Search, read, and store books the same way on desktop and phone.

Key Features

  • Search and load: find and load books by keyword, book link, or book ID
  • Book details: view cover, author, category, word count, status, synopsis, and chapter list
  • Online reading: read in-app with chapter switching, theme and font size adjustment, and progress tracking
  • Offline library: cache whole chapters, view cache progress, resume unfinished tasks, and update offline text
  • Continuous auto read: seamlessly continues to the next chapter, pausing while the text is held and resuming three seconds after release
  • Bookshelf: local and official shelves, with each card able to continue reading, download, or clean up
  • Download tasks: single-book download and bulk import with chapter ranges, pause/resume, and retry of failed chapters
  • Export: export TXT and EPUB, keep download history, and check local file status
  • Immersive reading: an optional immersive mode that keeps the current position when the contents panel toggles
  • Languages and themes: light and dark themes with Chinese, English, and Russian interfaces

Target Audience

  • Users who read novels on both computer and phone
  • Users who need offline reading and whole-book caching
  • People who export TXT or EPUB for long-term keeping

Quick Start

  1. Download and install the build matching your system architecture from Releases
  2. Choose the default save folder and export format in settings
  3. Search by keyword, or paste a book link or ID directly
  4. From the detail page, read online, cache offline text, add to shelf, or download
  5. Open exported files from history and track progress in the task panel

Core Advantages

  • Consistent across devices: desktop and mobile share one interface and backend
  • Offline capable: cached books read in-app even without a network
  • Easy updates: installer and portable builds match their exact release form for updates
