README
Project Overview
Filee is a free, open-source file converter: hold a modifier key, drag files, and a donut of formats appears right at your cursor - drop on one and the conversion is done. It handles 180+ formats entirely offline, with no need for Office or other heavyweight software.
Drag, drop on a format, done - right where your cursor is.
Key Features
- Donut toolbar at the cursor: hold
Ctrl(Optionon macOS) while dragging files; the ring shows only formats valid for that file type - 180+ formats offline: images, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HWP, e-books, archives, fonts and CAD without Office installed
- Batch in parallel: convert one file or a hundred at once; a single failure never stops the rest
- Multi-step routes: automatically plans chained conversions (e.g. HWP → HWPX → DOCX), using the best engine per step
- Presets: quality, size, DPI, metadata, PDF merge/split, video and audio parameters, output folder and naming can all be saved
- Watch folders: files dropped into a chosen folder convert automatically once fully written, turning it into an inbox
- Command line:
filee convertandfilee watchfor scripted use - Reuses system engines: already-installed FFmpeg, calibre, Pandoc, Ghostscript and LibreOffice are detected and used
- Three languages: English, 한국어 and 简体中文, following the system language
Target Audience
- Office workers converting documents daily
- Designers handling batches of images
- Operations staff needing bulk format changes
- Privacy-minded users who keep files offline

Notes
- Drag gestures on Linux need an X11 session; on Wayland use the right-click action and drop zone instead
- macOS builds are not notarized yet; allow the first start under Privacy & Security
Option+drag on macOS requires granting Accessibility permission- Some video, audio and rare formats rely on optional engines; pick them during setup
