Project Overview

LoveqPodcast is a third-party podcast player designed for BYD DiLink 4.0 head units while staying phone-friendly, keeping exactly one thing: listening to the show. No login, no store, no push, all data comes from the official website's public pages. The episode list covers every show from 2003 to now, and playback URLs are parsed from the site's signed official direct links, re-fetched automatically when they expire. It is an unofficial client that stores and distributes no audio, only proxying public links.

Listening to the show in the car takes just one APK.

Key Features

• Full episode list: every program under cat_id=1 with pull-to-refresh and year jumps, swiping continues into adjacent months
• Full-catalog search: instant matches across 2,300+ episodes by title or date, the index builds automatically on first launch and refreshes with about one request afterwards
• Progress memory: saved every 5 seconds, survives episode switches and process kills, finished episodes are marked automatically
• Playback speed: 0.75x ~ 3.0x remembered globally
• Listen cache: played segments cache locally with a 2 GB LRU cap, rewinding 30 seconds costs no data
• Background play: notification controls, lock-screen pause and seek, auto next episode
• Listen history: reverse chronological with on-air/finished filters

Head-Unit Adaptation

• Landscape three columns: at 880dp and wider it renders as a left sidebar, episode list, and dark playback panel
• Split-screen safe: falls back to single column when DiLink halves the width, rotation and split do not reload the UI
• Car-readable: one step larger fonts, touch targets at 44dp, an 82dp play button, and 30dp seek-bar hot zones
• Navigation yields: Media3 handles audio focus, ducking automatically during navigation prompts

Usage Flow

1. Allow unknown-source installs on the head unit and copy the APK over
2. Open to the episode list, jump by year or search to locate
3. Tap play, progress is remembered, and the Continue card on home picks up where you left off
4. Landscape switches to the three-column layout with playback and speed one tap away

Installation & Permissions

• No Google services: no Play or Firebase dependency, the head unit just installs the APK
• Local storage: no accounts, all progress stays on the device
• Themes: follows system dark mode, or locks light/dark in settings

Notes

• Unofficial client: unaffiliated with the LoveQ site or the show, stores and distributes no audio, only accesses public links
• Copyright boundary: MIT covers the code only, show audio, name, and cover art remain with their owners
• Link expiry: official playback URLs are signed and time-limited, re-fetched automatically without manual handling
