README

Project Overview

Listening to music on e-ink phones has always been a niche pain: low refresh rates, heavy UIs, and ordinary players that barely run. LX Music Enhanced E-ink Edition, maintained by shellsec, reworks the lyswhut/lx-music mobile app with rendering tuned for e-ink devices, plus custom source import, ordered automatic source switching after failures, HTTPS subscription updates, and a QR-based web configuration designed for e-ink devices without cameras. Like its siblings it ships no audio sources, scripts come from the user.

An LX build for e-ink devices, where scanning a QR code configures your sources.

Item Value
Base lyswhut/lx-music mobile v1.9.3-eink.1
Platform Android (arm64-v8a / armeabi-v7a / universal APK)
License Apache-2.0 (carried from upstream, changes in NOTICE)
Sources None bundled, user-imported

Key Features

  • E-ink tuning: interface and rendering adjustments for low-refresh e-ink devices
  • Custom source import: pick a local .js script or paste an address in settings, then select the source
  • Multi-source auto switching: off by default, parse failures retry only among imported sources in list order, once per candidate
  • QR web configuration: under Settings → Custom sources → Import → HTTP web config, another phone scans a QR code to fill source links, upload scripts, and save subscriptions in a browser, no device camera needed
  • Subscription updates: HTTPS manifest addresses persist across restarts, accepting sources objects or entry arrays
  • Subscription details: one automatic check per song per address per run, a shared 5-minute cooldown across songs, manual updates exempt

Install

  1. Pick the APK by architecture: arm64-v8a for 64-bit, armeabi-v7a for older e-ink devices, universal when unsure (larger)
  2. Download from the release page, or use the accelerated links and QR codes, with SHA256SUMS.txt attached
  3. The custom source list starts empty after install, import sources in settings first

Usage Flow

  1. Settings → Custom sources → Import, choose a local script or paste an address
  2. Multi-source users tick Multi-source auto switching and order retries with move up/down
  3. On e-ink devices enable HTTP web config, connect the phone to the same Wi-Fi, and scan the code
  4. Subscribers fill in their HTTPS manifest address in settings and save

Notes

  • Web config boundaries: off by default and never auto-enabled, the QR is generated locally and valid only while enabled, service stops when the window closes, the toggle turns off, or the app backgrounds
  • Subscription boundaries: no changes or failed requests stop immediately and keep local scripts, no recursive subscription requests; clearing the address and saving disables subscriptions
  • Disclaimer: no audio sources provided, imported content is the user's responsibility under local law and copyright
  • Incremental merging: local order is preserved, new sources append, and manifest removals only touch that subscription's entries
