Project Overview

Hongguo TV is an unofficial short-drama client built for the TV big screen: a standalone APK implemented with Kotlin, native Android Views and Media3 that browses and plays right after install — no Node, Docker or self-hosted server required. It is fully remote-controllable, requires Android 8.0 (API 26) minimum, and ships one universal build for ARM32 / ARM64 / x86 / x86_64.

Key Features

• Four-row home: Continue Watching, Favorites with Updates, Watch Later and a horizontal Hot Discovery shelf, plus one-tap shuffle recommendations
• Categories and rankings: comic / short-drama trending charts with 24+8 genre categories
• Search: type-separated suggestions for comics and dramas, search history, QR-code text input from a phone on the same LAN, with keyboard, suggestions and results on one screen
• Playback: auto continuous play, cross-season series play, per-show intro/outro skip, 0.75-2x speed, quality tiers, sleep timer
• Danmaku: official platform danmaku source with adjustable opacity, font size, speed and line count; emoji codes expand automatically
• Favorites and backup: grouped management with update notices; local auto backup restores after reinstall with one re-authorization, plus QR-code import/export
• In-app updates: auto detect and download with a China mirror fallback when GitHub is unreachable; reinstall keeps local records

Usage Flow

1. Download the latest APK and install it on a TV or box
2. Open the app straight into the home page; arrow keys switch rows, OK plays
3. In search, scan the QR code with a phone to type the title for you
4. When a favorited show updates, the "Favorites with Updates" row on the home page flags it

Install and Permissions

The APK is a single universal package, installable via USB drive or LAN push. All app data stays on-device; each launch sends one anonymous GET to a self-hosted Tencent cloud function (random install ID + version) to estimate active installs — no IP, device model or viewing data is collected, failures are silent, and there are no other analytics, ads or crash-reporting SDKs.
