hongguo-shortdramabox

Project Overview

ShortDramaBox is a third-party desktop player focused on short dramas, built around a small footprint and zero installation: the package is only about 6MB, a portable single file that runs right after extraction, and deleting the folder uninstalls it completely. It covers Windows, macOS, and Linux with no ads, no pre-rolls, and no pop-ups, offering HD playback, danmaku, drama tracking, and offline downloads. The repository only provides installers and release information, not application source code.

Item	Value
Platform	Windows, macOS, Linux
Size	About 6MB
Install	Portable, no installation
Ads	None
Version	v0.2.0

An under-6MB desktop drama tool: extract and run, delete and it is gone.

Key Features

• HD playback: 1080P with multiple quality tiers, hardware decoding for low resource usage, and automatic progress memory for seamless resume
• Danmaku: a built-in danmaku engine with one-tap toggle and sending
• Speed and autoplay: multiple playback speeds and automatic next-episode playback
• Picture-in-picture: always-on-top mini window that fits work and play
• Privacy and stealth: private mode watches without leaving traces; stealth mode disguises the window with a global hotkey
• Discovery: aggregated search, live trending and new-release rankings, and multiple channels including anime and live action
• Drama tracking: history, favorites, likes, follow updates, and premiere reminders all stored locally
• Offline downloads: one-tap MP4 downloads with whole-series batch caching
• Thoughtful details: tray minimization, remembered preferences, and dark or light themes

Target Audience

• Short-drama viewers
• Desktop binge-watchers
• Users with modest hardware
• Users who dislike ad interruptions

2. Extract or install and run directly, with no extra setup

4. Follow or reserve shows you like to get update notifications

Core Advantages

Notes

• No source code: the repository only provides installers and release information, not application source code; full open-sourcing is under consideration

• Learning purposes: the project is for learning and technical exchange only and must not be used commercially
