README
Project Overview
Live Wallpaper Engine is a lightweight, local live-wallpaper application for Windows 10/11 x64 that supports images, GIFs and common video formats. Implemented natively with C++20, Win32 and Direct3D 11, it assigns different wallpapers per screen or spans one image across the whole desktop, and Windows' original wallpaper naturally returns after exit.
Live wallpapers that run locally and leave no trace.
Key Features
- Common formats: JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF plus common videos decodable by the system Media Foundation
- Flexible multi-screen: span across the virtual desktop or assign per-screen wallpapers, with shared decode sessions when one wallpaper covers several screens
- Dynamic playback: GIFs and videos loop with sound toggle, pause and resume from the main window or tray menu
- Original-first with optional compression: plays at source resolution and frame rate by default; import can optionally compress videos to screen resolution
- Library and groups: all, favorites and custom sortable groups with many-to-many membership, plus multi-select batch favorite, export and delete
- Share packs: standard ZIP share packs and per-wallpaper .lwewall files with checksums, importable and exportable
- Smart pausing: playback pauses on session lock, sleep, display off and qualifying fullscreen apps
- Visible resource usage: live per-process CPU, GPU and memory readouts in the interface
- Tray and autostart: closing the window hides to tray; optional launch-on-login restores your wallpaper

Core Advantages
