Project Overview

TVBox is a media playback app for Android TV and TV boxes, built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Media3 ExoPlayer. It focuses on remote-control operation and provides VOD categories, search, details, m3u8 playback, watch history, live TV, platform live streams and OTA updates. It offers client capability only, hosting no media content, and users must ensure their interfaces are properly licensed.

• TV adaptation: supports the Leanback launcher while keeping a regular Android entry
• Remote interaction: arrow keys, OK, Back, Menu and number keys all mapped
• Home media list: shows Douban hot series by default with posters, ratings, paging and focus highlighting
• Video source management: 32 built-in resource sites, a selectable data source, and QR-based adding of custom MacCms interfaces
• Search and details: searches up to three sources in parallel with incremental dedup, and detail pages prefer the primary source
• AI discovery: supports text, in-app speech recognition and quick suggestions, with QR setup for the model and API key
• Live support: TVBox text and M3U sources with grouping and auto-switching, plus platforms like Douyu, Huya, Bilibili, Douyin and Kuaishou
• OTA updates: checks an update manifest on startup and can download and hand the APK to the system installer
• Content filtering: filters unwanted categories and resources

Quick Start

1. Download the latest APK from Releases
2. Install it on an Android TV or TV box, or via ADB
3. Open the app and pick a video source in settings
4. To add a source, tap Add Source and fill in the details by phone after the TV shows a QR code

System Requirements

Notes

• Ensure your media and live interfaces are properly licensed; this project hosts no media content
• The platform live service address is injected at build time, so a change requires a rebuild; do not use a localhost address
• AI discovery only overrides built-in config after an API key is submitted from the phone
• The OTA manifest lives in the repo root and only triggers an update when the version matches
